The twins, Frick and Frack, have a younger sister, A-Star. Here is a picture of the three of them:
And now the lovely miss A-Star has gotten married. I will share that story in another post, but the lead-in here was that the twins and I took a flight out to Iowa last weekend for the wedding.
On the return flight, I was sitting middle seat, between my husband on one side and Frick on the other. We had stopped for a layover and this was the second leg of my flight. My husband happened to glance over and notice I was reading a different book from the one I was reading on the earlier flight.
He says to me: "Are you reading two books at the same time right now?"
Me: "Yes, I am. I need the paper book for takeoff and landing, when my Kindle has to be turned off. It's not as interesting as the book I'm reading on my Kindle, so this is just to 'tide me over' until we can turn on our electronic devices again."
Him: "Oh, wow, I don't think I've ever read a book to 'tide me over' until I can read another book. You are such a nerd."
I just shrugged, and went back to reading my book. Until we reached cruising altitude, of course, when I would start reading the other book.

Salton Sea
October 25, 2011
It's not that there's nothing exciting happening. It's just that most of my life right now consists of : get up, go to work, go home, go to bed. So I give you just about all I have right now - a pretty picture from last weekend.
Here is the Salton Sea at sunset, from 9,500 feet:

Falling through the sky
June 09, 2011
Because apparently the Warrior Dash wasn't enough adventure for the month of May, Chris and I, along with 10 or so of our friends, signed up to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.
This is the conversation that was had about two weeks before The Event.
Co-worker: Oh, you guys are going skydiving out at that place in Jamul?
Us: Yes, that's the place!
Co-worker: My buddy used to work at that place, I know it pretty well. Lots of people around here skydive there. In fact, do you know that older guy who works for one of our clients?
Us: Oh, yeah, we know him! He skydives?
Co-worker: Yeah, he's a certified instructer even. He's been on thousands of jumps.
Chris (to me): See, there's nothing to be nervous about. That guy's been on thousands of jumps and he's still standing!
Co-worker: (clears throat) Well, technically, I suppose he is. He does have two prostetic legs. From a mid-air collision while skydiving.
In the end, however, we went and we jumped out of plane and we had a blast. I would totally do it again some time.

Come fly with me
October 27, 2010
Well, technically, I should say come fly with me and my husband, since we'd need him to actually pilot the plane.
Maybe now you're thinking:
OMG you have a PLANE! That is so totally awesome. You must be like, rich, or something! OMG a PLANE!
And while I absolutely love our plane and am very thankful to have it in our lives... I must mention a few things first. It is not a fancy corporate jet, in fact, it is not a jet at all. It is a single-engine prop plane. It travels at about 130 knots on average. (1 knot = 1.15 mph... thank you Orange County Chopper for that handy piece of knowledge) Which in plane speed goes something like "weeeennnnnhhhhhh" rather than "woooosh". Oh, and, also, it was built in 1957.
But we love the plane. And since I don't think I've ever posted a picture of our plane on here:
Pretty.
And since I'm sharing, here's what the beautiful blue sky with puffy white clouds looks like from 9,500 feet:
